Tips to deal with sun spots, uneven pigment, fine lines and more
It’s time to correct hyperpigmentation and sun damage to your skin
Has summer taken a toll on your complexion?
As your tan fades, do you find more sun spots, uneven pigment and skin texture that’s crepey and dull?
What about fine lines and wrinkles? Are there more than last year?
It’s Skin Rejuvenation Season!
As fall sets in, it’s common to take stock of the consequences of weathering on our complexion and want to fix it. In my dermatology practice, we call it Skin Rejuvenation Season because this is when we all start to look critically at our skin.
Plus, the next six months are the absolutely perfect time for starting a serious skin care routine to turn back the clock, reverse the damage, tune-up the complexion, and make a real difference in the face that looks back at us in our bathroom mirrors!
What skin care routine works the best to fix sun damage?
It is an intense combination of the best, active ingredients for the job including: a retinoid (Retin A or Retinol), an alpha hydroxy acid (glycolic acid is the best for this in my opinion) and hydroquinone.
The trick is twofold. You want to:
- Get your skin to fully absorb the actives so that they can make huge changes; and
- Have your skin tolerate all of this at once.
Absorption depends on getting skin really cleaned and exfoliated so that it is free of things that inhibit absorption.
It’s also important to calm and sooth any irritation before it gets out of hand.
The latest skincare products for 2017 can help.
In the past, we used the original Obagi Nu Derm for the task. However, it had a lot of preservatives in it. Plus, some people had bad experiences because it could be really irritating.
Now, it 2017, and we have better options… I’ve combined just the right products into my Ultimate Pigment and Sun Damage Repair Kit to help you!
With this product, you’ll see how I “thread the needle” between effectiveness, non-prescription professional products and results:
This is clinical strength and clinically-sound – no fluff, fillers or trouble-maker ingredients, just proven “heavy lifters” that work.
Plus, these products are good for our skin in the long-term too!
We all need daily sunscreen, a retinoid, glycolic acid, and a product rich in green tea antioxidants.
Once pigment is controlled, we can take a break from the hydroquinone. But, the rest of the kit is good for fighting the changes of aging and are products we want to use indefinitely.
It can be tricky to combine glycolic acid and a retinol so I give you really clear information and advice. Plus, you’ll see my favorite tips and tricks for coaxing a complexion into shape with these wonderful ingredients.
Happy Fall and Happy Skin Rejuvenation Season!
