Dermatologists agree that every serious anti-aging skin care routine should include a retinoid product at bedtime. All-trans-retinol is scientifically proven to be the best non-prescription retinoid for the job.

1% retinol is the highest concentration allowed in skin care products.

My Retinol Ultra-Intensive Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream is formulated with this highest concentration using only medical grade all-trans-retinol. Made with pharmaceutical-grade ingredients in an FDA-approved lab, you are getting powerful, purified, and stable all-trans-retinol using state-of-the-art technology − and that translates to maximum effectiveness and minimal irritation.

Retinoids (the vitamin A family of agents) have the best scientific evidence of any ingredient for their ability to block and reverse the signs of skin aging. A serious anti-aging skin care routine should include a retinoid product, and my all-trans-retinol is the best non-prescription retinoid for the job.

I recommend retinoid products to almost all of my patients. I've been using a retinoid product on my own complexion for over 35 years. Skin aging can start as early as your late teens and early 20s and I know that it’s never too early - or too late - to start using a retinoid. If you are new to retinol, start slowly. I describe how to do this under the tab on directions.

What can retinoids do for your skin?

  • Reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and large pores.
  • Bolster skin thickness to help counter skin thinning from sun damage and aging.
  • Smooth and brighten your complexion, reducing skin roughness and dullness.
  • Help to even-out irregular skin pigment from sun spots, age spots, and melasma.
  • Soften the appearance of acne scars.
  • Help fight clogged pores and blackheads.

Reduce Fine Lines and Wrinkles and Have Glowing Skin Fast

When you use retinol on your skin, you will notice a brightening of your complexion right away. You’ll see smoother and more even skin color, tone, and texture within two weeks. See improvement in fine lines and wrinkles by four months. Typically, you can only get these kinds of results from a trip to the dermatologist, plastic surgeon, or aesthetician. Now you can get them from a cream!

Not All Retinol Products Are Created Equal - Choose Wisely

Retinol Ultra-Intensive Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream is formulated for maximum results in an FDA regulated laboratory using purified and stable, medical grade all-trans-retinol. It's powerful because I aim for results.

High strength retinol products contain between 0.5% to 1% retinol denoted as 5X and 10X.

Retinol products below that strength are considered low strength and are much less likely to produce proven retinol benefits to your skin.

Retinol Ultra-Intensive Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream contains 10X pharmaceutical grade retinol - the maximal allowed concentration. This is a medical-grade retinol product and what you would expect from a results-oriented dermatologist. - Dr. Bailey

In addition, my Retinol 10X Night Cream is formulated with green tea antioxidants to bring you maximum retinol effectiveness with minimal skin irritation. The entire formulation is dispensed in an airtight and light impermeable pump to protect retinol stability. You can't get a better retinol product anywhere.

What do you need to know about choosing the right retinol product for your skin?

Before you start searching for a retinol product, you need to know that not all retinol products work equally well. That’s because retinol is fragile. It can break down during product processing, packaging, and storage.

Also, higher levels of retinol create better results, but these higher levels can irritate your skin. The trick is to find a product that is effective, yet gentle on your skin.

Ideally you want to use a retinol product listed with at least a 4-time concentration of retinol, meaning 0.04%. At a full 1% concentration (10-times concentration), you are getting ultra-high concentration retinol and you can expect greater benefits. Because higher concentrations of retinol can be irritating, product formulation is doubly important. With my Retinol Ultra-Intensive Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream, our chemist uses state-of-the-art technology to help you reap the retinol benefits with less risk of irritation.

Retinol Ultra-Intensive Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream is better tolerated by sensitive skin because:

      • You benefit from the highest concentration of active and stable retinol formulated in a slow-release delivery system; your skin gets all the retinol goodness without being overwhelmed all at once.
      • The synergistic coupling of retinol with high concentration green tea antioxidants helps to calm retinol skin irritation while at the same time enhancing the reversal of sun damage changes in your skin.

It’s a brilliant partnership between science and nature made possible by today’s skin chemistry advances.

Add state-of-the-art Retinol Ultra-Intensive Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream to your complete anti-aging skin care routine for healthier younger looking skin. It might actually be that true "fountain of youth" ingredient that you need to bump up the results of your anti-aging skin care routine.

      FAQ

      Understanding Retinol

You may not be familiar with retinol and why it is an integral component to a Complete Skin Care Routine™ that targets a reversal and slowing of skin aging.

Here are some facts you should know:

      • Retinol is part of a family of agents called retinoids. While these compounds all have similarities, they don’t all work equally well to reverse the signs of skin aging.
      • Retinol is vitamin A. It is converted in the skin to retinoic acid, the active ingredient in prescription Retin A (also called tretinoin). Evidence suggests that retinol is the most effective non-prescription retinoid for reversing the signs of skin aging.
      • The skin contains specific receptors that bind retinoids to create beneficial changes that brighten your complexion and fight skin aging and sun damage.

      How fast does retinol work?

You will notice some skin changes when you start using a stable, high concentration retinoid product such as Retinol Ultra-Intensive Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream. These changes include:

      • A brighter complexion within a week. This happens because the dead skin layer called the stratum corneum becomes more compact, thus brightening your complexion and smoothing skin roughness. The living cell layer underneath the dead cells layer, called the epidermis, begins to thicken and show evidence of swelling (spongiosis), which means the beginning of a dewier and more youthful complexion.
      • A dewier complexion within two weeks. Retinoids stimulate skin to make more hyaluronic acid in your skin's living layers, resulting in deeper skin hydration with more hydrated skin tone and texture and even greater youthening in the appearance of your skin.
      • More even skin color during the first ten months. Retinol is proven to improve uneven skin pigment including sun spots, brown age spots, and other forms of hyperpigmentation such as melasma.
      • Reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles after four months. Numerous scientific studies have shown improved collagen production in the skin with retinoid use. This equates to meaningful improvements in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and in skin thinning.

All dermatologists agree that retinoids are an integral part of any meaningful age-fighting skin care routine. Add state-of-the-art Retinol ultra-Intensive Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream to your skin care routine for healthier younger looking skin.

All retinoids, including retinol, work best when you apply it at night. This is because retinoids break down upon contact with light.

      In the evening,

      1. Cleanse your skin with your favorite cleanser and towel dry.
      2. Apply a pea-sized amount of my Retinol Ultra-Intensive Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream to your face. You can use another pea-sized amount for your neck and another for your chest if your skin can tolerate it. Start "low and slow" with retinol. See my tips below.
      3. Layer a richer moisturizer on top of the Retinol Night Cream such as my Daily Moisturizing Face Cream.

Pro Tip: You may be able to combine retinol product with glycolic acid if your complexion can tolerate it. Both of these age-fighting ingredients accomplish similar skin transformation but by different mechanisms. Thus, the results can be additive! I recommend applying my Glycolic Acid Anti-Wrinkle Face Cream on top of my Retinol Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream. This is what I personally do when my sensitive skin will let me.

I don't recommend applying other powerful ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, or vitamin C at the same time as retinoids. Save those ingredients for your daytime skin care routine or alternate them with the Retinol Night Cream.

Why is it important to start "low and slow" with powerful professional skin care products such as retinol?

Retinol is one of the important skin care ingredients that can irritate skin until a complexion has adjusted and transformed to tolerate the ingredient. Help your skin adjust by starting on lower concentrations and slowly working up to daily use:

      • Start by using my Retinol Night Cream every third night.
      • As your skin adjusts, you can increase your use to every-other night, and then a nightly application.
      • You can also lower the strength of the Retinol Ultra-Intensive 10X Night Cream by blending a half pea-size portion in your palm with a half pea-size portion of your moisturizer. This creates 5X. Start at this level every third night if you expect your skin to be sensitive. Gradually work up to full strength 10X and from every third to every night. This is the classic "low and slow" way to adjust sensitive skin to powerful medical-grade skin care products.
      • If for any reason, on any portion of your treated skin, you develop irritation - take a break; stop applying the Retinol Cream until your skin is back to normal for a week then resume at a less frequent rate and again work up to nightly use.
      • There may be parts of your face that are more prone to irritation such as around your mouth or nose or the creases of your eyelids. If you find that to be true, use the cream less often there or not at all.

      Precautions with using retinoids:

      • Remember to wear a broad spectrum sunscreen on retinoid treated skin during the day.
      • Retinoids, including retinol, are not recommended for use during pregnancy.
      • Retinoid treated skin will be more exfoliated than untreated skin so remember to tell your skin care professional before having treatments done on the areas of skin where you are applying a retinoid. This includes waxing, face peels etc.
      • Exercise caution when using any skin care product or device that can be abrasive or irritating on skin where you are using a retinoid.

My "low and slow" philosophy with professional skin care products can help even the most sensitive complexions tolerate medical-grade skin care products. It is especially important with a powerful retinol cream. I recommend starting with retinol every third night and slowly increasing to every night as your skin adjusts. You can also dilute the strength using your facial moisturizer as I describe under the directions tab. I've used these tips for over 30 years as I've guided sensitive complexions into tolerating retinol and its prescription cousin Retin-A.

It's also important that if you skin becomes chapped for any reason (wind, products, procedure etc.), you let your skin recover before resuming the use of retinol. Once your skin is back to normal, restart your retinol for best results.
