Get Rid of Acne!
Pityrosporum Folliculitis SunSavvy Kit
This type of acne is more common than you think. It is different than acne vulgaris (common acne), and the treatment needs to take into account the little yeast that plays such a big role in this skin problem.
Called Pityrosporum, or Malassezia, this normal little skin yeast will raise havoc with your complexion if left on its own. The pimples and clogged pores occur mostly on the upper trunk in young-to-middle-age adults, along the hairline of the neck and forehead and along the jaw.
Skin shows tiny 1-2 mm flesh-colored, bumps (plugged pores) and bright red pimples and pustules which sometimes itch and hurt. With this, you may also have seborrheic dermatitis – dandruff on the scalp or scaling of the eyebrows.
Treatment for this involves using ingredients that discourage the yeast from thriving on warm, moist and oily skin plus cleaning out the pores to stop the tiny bumps.
- I use the Calming Zinc Bar Soap, which has zinc pyrithione.
- I combine this with my Ultimate Acne Kit to clean pores and treat regular acne vulgaris, too – as it often co-exists.
To Get Rid of Acne, Wash with the Acne Treatment Wash, and use the Kit products one time a day.
When you shower, use the Calming Zinc on your face, neck and upper trunk. Follow up with the Acne Kit products for your facial skin.
Sun protection is important to prevent the post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation that happens with Pityrosporum folliculitis.
I’ve got you covered there with my Sheer Strength Matte Sunscreen. It’s the perfect oil-absorbing facial sunscreen, tinted to blend with all skin-tones to give you invisible, broad-spectrum mineral UV-protection. For the neck, back and chest, use the Sheer Strength Spray.
