Multitasking and chocolate, what do they have in common??
We all know about multitasking, the modern day double-edged sword – we’re able to do so much at once that we have to intentionally ‘unplug’ to reset our inner ‘zen’. I think it started with the 10 foot long phone cord! Remember tripping over this while your mother simultaneously cooked dinner as she talked to her friend? There may have even been a TV on in the background. Then came the internet, then the cellphone and now the smartphone – and we multitasking-inclined are spiraling out of control. We can talk to our friends, google information, answer emails, help the kids with homework and text all at the same time – even while getting dinner on the table! And that’s where chocolate comes in…
Chocolate is where multitasking doesn’t have to be so crazy. In fact, it’s downright providential and soul-satisfying.
You are aware of some of the multitasking wonder of chocolate, but I’ve got some new news for you. You already knew chocolate as the potential high point of a long day, that moment you sit down and savor a bite of endorphin-inducing ambrosia (that’s sometimes decadent, too). But, did you know that chocolate, or cocao powder, can also multitask in your skin care? It’s a wonderful and potent ingredient in a DIY facial that magically allows you to pamper yourself after a long week. It feels great, the aroma is amazing and your skin will love it, too. And, Valentine’s Day seems like the perfect time to immerse yourself in the multitasking, sensual wonder of chocolate, doesn’t it?
Fortunately, we’ve got just the recipes for you to do exactly that!
For your taste buds, here is a smooth and delicious chocolate pudding from Martha Stewart. Martha shares surprise ingredients in this luxurious – and healthy – dessert. Once you have that in the refrigerator cooling, whip up this simple chocolate mask for your skin. Cocao in skin care has that magic combination of caffeine and antioxidants – your skin will love it.
Valentine’s Day is the unofficial day of chocolate; whether you are spending your Valentine’s Day with your mother, your dog, your significant other or all three, immerse yourself in chocolate! It’s pampering AND good for you, which is what we like to call good multitasking!
- 3 avocados
- 6 tablespoons cocao powder
- 1/4 cup raw honey
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- Sea salt
Puree avocados, cocoa powder, honey, and vanilla in a food processor until smooth. Sprinkle pudding with salt before serving.

Now that you’ve had several samples of the amazing pudding, try this facial using the same cocao powder and honey you just had out. Now, that’s multitasking!
- 2 tbs of cocao powder
- 1 tbs of raw honey
- 1 1/2 tbs of organic coconut oil (melted)
Make a paste with these ingredients, add a little more honey or cocoa to make it a nice consistency for your face.
Apply to your skin. Leave on skin for 15-20 minutes. Remove with warm water.
