Dermatologists and skin professionals agree that sun protection is
critical for skin cancer prevention and anti aging skin care. I've
searched long and hard for high quality, reliable sun screens, and Citrix
and Solbar Zinc are the best in my opinion as a dermatologist; my patients
and I have trusted them for years and wear them every day.
Sun screen alone isn't sufficient for total sun protection.
Dermatologists recommend sun protective clothing to cover as much of
your skin as you comfortably can and these garments can be expensive.
Make your own sun protection clothing with Sun Guard. Add Sun Guard
to a normal wash cycle of laundry and you have reliable sun protection
from your own clothes.
Lastly, test your sun exposure and learn when you're at risk using
the UV Detecto Ring, small UV sensitive beads that turn color with UV
rays. Test shade, sun reflection, clothing, windows and more! My SunSavvy
Ultimate Sun Protection Kit includes a handy mesh bag for your products
so that you can quickly throw them in your beach, pool or sports bag -
I want your skin sun protected and I'm making it easy for you to always
have the best protection ready to use when you need it! My kit comes in
this great see-through cosmetic bag, too!!
Product Details: SunSavvy Kit, Ultimate Protection
Citrix Sunscreen SPF 30, 3.5 oz.: My favorite every day sun
protection product for normal skin! SPF 30 with 7% Micro sized zinc
oxide and other sunscreen agents in an oil-free base that is pretty
much invisible when it is on the skin, won't aggravate acne, does not
sting eyes, and layers on the skin nicely with other skin care products.
I have used it every day for years and it’s the best sunscreen for my
skin.
Solbar Zinc SPF 38, 4 oz.: SPF 38 sunblock in an oil-free base
that is very water and rub-resistant. This is my choice for sports, water
activities because I find it doesn’t sting the eyes. Its sun protection
comes from 7.5% zinc oxide and other chemical sunscreen ingredients.
Sun Guard Laundry Treatment, 1 oz.: Turn everyday clothing into
sun protective clothing. Wash Sun Guard into a load of laundry and your
regular garments will become sun protection clothing, with their protection
lasting for approximately 19 launderings. I used Sun Guard on a linen shirt
and it didn’t alter the look or texture of my shirt.
LipCotz SPF 45, 0.14 oz.: This pleasant zinc oxide and titanium
dioxide lip balm provides chemical free sun protection for the fragile
lips.
UV Ray Detecto Ring: Learn when you are exposed to harmful UV
rays. The Detecto-Ring consists of plastic UV sensing beads and a colored
key ring that you can carry with you. The white beads turn color when
exposed to UVA or UVB approximately 50,000 times. I recommend you place
the ring on your key ring so it is always handy to check your UV exposure.
The information is startling! I found: 1. my ring turned intense color
while I was sitting at an outdoor cafe in complete shade of a tall
building, but apparently fully exposed to reflected light from the
building across the street! 2. I placed my ring in the pocket of a 1
year old sun protection garment and it colored a little meaning that
the sun protection of the garment was wearing out and I needed to replace
it. The Detecto-ring is a teaching tool and is not a
medical device that can be used to guarantee sun safety.

Tips For Success: SunSavvy Kit, Ultimate Protection
Sunscreen Application Tips:
- Apply micro sized zinc oxide sunscreens last, after all other skin care products but under make-up. This is because the zinc oxide particles sit on top of the skin where they reflect light. All skin care products that work by penetrating into the skin must be applied first.
- Zinc oxide sunscreens will be invisible on the skin if you warm the cream and disperse the particles before applying the product. To do this, place the amount of cream to be applied in the palm of one hand. Vigorously rub your palms together then apply the cream to your skin by patting it around various places in the area to be covered. Finish by rubbing the cream on your skin until it is evenly applied and invisible.
- Eye sensitivity is not typically a problem with my zinc oxide sunscreens. The Glycolix Elite SPF 30 Sunscreen, however is the absolutely most gentle on the eyes and so if you are struggling with eye irritation, I recommend this product for the skin around the eye area.
- The quantity of sunscreen you apply is critical to the amount of protection you have created for your skin. Current recommendations are 1 tsp for the adult face and 1oz. (a shot glass) for the average sized adult in the average sized bathing suit. It is especially important to follow these recommendations if you are relying on sunscreen alone to protect your skin during times of intense sun exposure.

Dr. Cynthia Bailey Wants You To Know: SunSavvy Kit, Ultimate Protection
Micro sized zinc oxide is the best sunscreen ingredient for total UVA and
UVB sun protection, in my opinion. It provides non-irritating, complete
UVA and UVB protection by bouncing the rays off the skin. Micro sized
zinc oxide (and its cousin titanium dioxide) does not penetrate the skin;
it sits on the outer layer. All of the more common chemicals in sunscreen
products enter the skin and block the sun rays with a chemical reaction
that occurs within the skin itself. This chemical reaction breaks down
the sunscreen ingredient. Zinc oxide, however, sits on the skin bouncing
rays back into the sky. It provides longer lasting sun protection than
the chemical sunscreen agents because it lasts longer on the skin.
Plus, unlike the other sunscreen ingredients, it does not rapidly degrade
in the sunscreen bottle. Micro sized zinc oxide rubs into the skin nicely
and does not leave a heavy feel (as does titanium dioxide). Remember that
harmful and aging sun rays come through windows. Sunscreen needs to be
applied to all exposed areas of skin every day.
Creating perfect sun protection requires picking the right products for
your skin type and activities.

What My Customers Say
"Your Sun Kit is great. We went to Arizona for vacation to a resort where there were a lot of kids age 3 to 17. The kids were fascinated with the Detecto Ring. I went all around the resort with the kids, checking the sun light with the ring. It was really fascinating. The kids wanted to try more places in the evening. I ended up with a lot of friends and neighbors!
"Sitting in the shade you think your ok but no, you need sunscreen there too. The sunscreens work so well I missed one little spot on my armpit and it got a little burned." Kathleen C.,2008
