People with rosacea
have very sensitive skin. If you have rosacea, you need to be extremely choosy about
what you apply to your facial skin. Aim to use products that are non-irritating and that
calm the redness of your rosacea prone skin; avoid anything that irritates
your sensitive skin because it will trigger your rosacea.
The most important points to consider in selecting skin care products for rosacea prone
facial skin are:
- Avoiding any product that irritates or overly dries your skin. Choose
products that calm inflammation and sooth redness such as the green tea, caffeine and
hyaluronic acid in
Replenix CF Green Tea Cream.
In my dermatology practice, I've also found that medicated pyrithione zinc cleansers and
soap also help. They need to be formulated in a non-drying product and I made my
Calming Zinc ® Soap
for exactly that reason. It's uniquely calming for rosacea prone skin, containing medicated
pyrithione zinc along with inflammation-soothing calendula, oatmeal and shea butter.
- Avoiding any exposure to the usual foaming cleansers that contain the sodium laurel
sulfate family of foaming agents. If you can't use my Calming Zinc ® Bar, then pick a gentle
non-foaming facial cleanser such as Toleraine Cleanser.
You could also use one of the many natural glycerin soaps available at natural food stores and
specialty boutiques.
- Moisturizing with only nonirritating moisturizers such as
Daily Moisturizing Face Cream for Oily to Normal Skin
and Replenix Power of Three Green Tea Cream.
These products help heal and restore balance to inflamed skin.
I have found that all of these products that I mentioned above are compatible
with prescription products that I prescribe for my rosacea patients. To read more about
