Trying to buy ZNP soap online or in stores?

For years ZNP soap was the only available bar soap with the maximal allowed level of 2% medicated pyrithione zinc.  As of 2011 ZNP is no longer available. According to Stiffle Labs, the producer of ZNP, the ZNP shortage will continue at least until 2012.

The good news is that my Calming Zinc Bar, also with a full 2% pyrithione zinc, works as well as ZNP to treat your dandruff, and in fact my patients find it’s even better! Now is the perfect time to switch over if you’re still using the old ZNP!

My Calming Zinc Soap is the perfect collaboration between medical science and healing, natural ingredients.  Calming Zinc is hand crafted from these ingredients using the old fashion method for making soap.  It’s then medicated with the maximal allowed level of powerful pyrithione zinc- and it’s a skin care wonder! If you’ve used Noble Formula Zinc Soap in the past, I believe that you’ll love Calming Zinc.  Noble Formula Zinc’s emu oil has been replaced with shea butter, making it animal free and full of the right combination of plant based linoleic, oleic and stearic acids to soothe your inflamed and irritated skin.

As a dermatologist I’ve use 2% pyrithione zinc skin care products for years to treat my patients with:

  • dandruff,
  • rosacea,
  • pityrosporum folliculitis type of acne,
  • facial scale and redness from age and sun damage,
  • some types of psoriasis
  • and to prevent tinea versicolor.

For many years, you could only find 2% pyrithione zinc skin cleansing products made in harsh, drying formulations like ZNP and shampoos. These products over-dried and irritated your skin if you were suffering from the very same skin conditions that pyrithione zinc treats.  My Calming Zinc Bar soothes instead of irritates, while at the same time delivering the important pyrithione zinc medicated treatment for your skin problem. Now you can get soft, smooth, healthy skin when you use Calming Zinc for your skin care cleansing step.

With ZNP unavailable, Calming Zinc Bar is a much better therapeutic facial cleanser for rosacea or facial dandruff than resorting to the readily available pyrithione zinc shampoos. I’ve seen people use shampoos on their face, but shampoos are too harsh for facial skin.  They contain strong foaming chemicals, preservatives and fragrances, all of which are poorly tolerated by compromised facial skin.  Like shampoos, ZNP has been made as a hard milled soap with a highly foaming soap base that irritates compromised skin.  Over the years, I’ve seen many patient’s develop dry, red and scaly skin from ZNP.  At the time we had no alternative treatments.  Now we have Calming Zinc.

Because my Calming Zinc Bar is made in the old fashioned, natural soap making method it’s chock full of naturally hydrating glycerin and has a broad range of  healing properties.  Used once or twice a day, Calming Zinc leaves your skin soft, hydrated and clean, without over-drying. I use Calming Zinc’s 2% pyrithione zinc in my dermatology practice to treat the germs that aggravate dandruff, rosacea, pityrosporum type of acne and other skin conditions so that your skin can heal naturally.  Finally, say goodbye to dry-looking, red, scaly, inflamed and embarrassing skin.

Use Calming Zinc on your face, ears, neck, back and chest.  If you don’t have much scalp hair you can use Calming Zinc on your scalp too.  This natural and hydrating soap doesn’t lather enough to get through a thick head of hair so for dandruff on a hairy scalp I recommend my OTB Skin Cleanser #2 to be used as a shampoo.

The hydrating and soothing properties of Calming Zinc Bar make it far more effective than ZNP for treating the same skin problems.  You get a full 2% level of medicated pyrithione zinc, just like with ZNP, but in a much more appropriate soap base for your sensitive, problem skin.

    Dear Dr. Bailey,

Do you make your Calming Zinc Bar Soap yourself or is it private label? Is it made by cold process or hot process soap making?

    Regards,
    Nadine

    Hello Nadine,
The Calming Zinc is made exclusively for me. It is handmade and then cured by the old-fashioned, cold process method of soap making. Calming Zinc is thus full of the natural glycerin that comes from creating soap.
    Regards, Cynthia

    Dr. Bailey,
I am looking for an alternative to ZNP soap which has been very useful to me, thus my interest in your Calming Zinc Bar Soap. Can you please tell me the size of each bar of your soap in ounces?

    Thank you.
    Robert

    Hello Robert,
Each bar is just over 3.25 ounces. A bar lasts a long time if you do not let it sit indefinitely in a water-filled soap dish.
    Warm Regards, Cynthia Bailey MD
